Dear Colleagues,
We would like to cordially invite you to participate in the “Broader Introduction of Effective HIV Prevention Strategies Targeting Populations at Most Risk in the East Europe Region” EU funded project launching presentation followed by the stakeholders Working Meeting on HIV / AIDS prevention activities targeted MSM, CSW, IDU vulnerable groups.

The event will take place on July 2 from 14:00 till 18:00 in Erebuni Plaza "Argishti" hall. The address is 26/1 V. Sargsyan street., Yerevan.

Please find attached the brief description of the project. The event agenda will be sent in the next week.

WFCE  participated in the second international human rights educational program organized by Canadian  EQUITAS international center for human rights education  

The Canadian Human Rights EQUTAS human rights education center is organized second international training program on human rights education for  human rights educators and trainers representing Ukraine and South Caucasus countries. The training course took place in Cheringov,  Ukraine. The thelargest delegation of participants was Armenia: 7 representatives of different human rights 
organisations and the Ombudsmen office took part in this training course. 
The participant representing We for Civil Equality was STI/HIV/AIDS prevention programs officer Mr. Ashot Gevorgyan.
In addition, We for Civil Equality NGO is EQUITAS  partner organization in Armenia, and WFCE president is expert for EQUITAS International Center for Human rights Education for Eastern Europe countries.
WFCE in cooperation with the Yezidi National Union organized a Cultural Evening 
WFCE in cooperation with the Yezidi National Union organized a Cultural Evening for minorities in the framework of MATRA project organized The evening was held on April 18 in the celebrations hall of the Central Post Office In Yerevan in line with Yezidi national New Year known as "Sare Sal". The event aimed to strengthen intercultural and interreligiuos dialogue between different minority groups formed due to various of activities organized by WFCE. The overall goal of the event was ensuring the cultural rights of  minority groups in Armenia and raise public information on minority issues. Representatives of various non-governmental organizations, Human Rights Defender, as well as representatives of the Government were took part in this event. "We for Civil Equality" NGO deeply expresses its gratitude to the Government, the Human Rights Defender Office, Civic Development and Partnership Foundation, Society without violence NGO and  the "International Academy of Lawyers and Psychologists NGO and Yezidi National Union for their contribution, support and participation. 
WFCE lunched new initiatives to empower and build capacities of regional NGOs and initiative groups on, human rights and diversity.

WFCE Staff, volunteers and Human Right and Diversity training  program participant  were in different regions of Armenia to conduct a training on human rights and diversity for the members of different NGOs and activists. Activists from local organizations also have been invited to WFCE training. This is a successful implementation of WFCE long term goal on promoting of diversity in Armenia and thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of the local human rights activists we are proving our work for real social changes and our being of leader in promotion of diversity in Armenia.

 Na/Ne Media Award 2012 Ceremony kicks off in Yerevan, WFCE Awards Best Journalist 
The official ceremony of the Fourth Annual Na/Ne Media Award took place in Moscow Cinema on February 10. This year, We for Civil Equality NGO gave its special award to the best coverage of gender identity/gender expression (GIDE) issues to writer, publicist and journalist Lusine Vayachyan for her article “Ocean’s Frontal Nudity”. 
Na/Ne Media Award is organized by British Council, The British Embassy in Partnership with WFCE, UNFPA, OSCE, etc. This was the first time that GIDE issues were included as a special nomination for the MEDIA award in Armenia. WFCE thanks the British Council Armenia for giving us an opportunity to contribute to this prominent media award and encourage journalists who raise GIDE issues in the local media.

Na/Ne Annual Media Award
The British Council, British Embassy Yerevan, the OSCE Office in Yerevan in partnership with the UNFPA, World Vision Armenia, supported by BMI and ATV TV company announce the 4th Na/Ne annual media competition.
 This year in addition to the main nomination categories We for Civil Equality NGO has introduced a special award for the best media submission highlighting Gender Identity and Gender Expression Issues.
Journalists representing printed, online media, TV and radio companies of Armenia as well as independent journalists are eligible to submit their publications to take part in the competition. The published and broadcast publications and their authors may also be nominated by NGOs and individuals.
Materials must have been published or broadcast within the period from January to December 2011 and cover the activities and achievements, problems and challenges of women in political, economic and social spheres as well as Gender Based Violence. All publications should be presented from the gender equality perspective.

Submission Procedures  
Applications must be submitted by 17 January, 2012. The results of the competition will be finalised by the end of January and presented during Na/Ne award ceremony. For the first time this year the ceremony will be open for public and will be broadcast on ATV, the exclusive information sponsor of the event. The invitations to the event will be available to all interested individuals from the British Council office.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  Young individuals (aged between 18 and 35 years) of national, ethnic, religious, sexual and gender minority groups, representatives of regional and international human rights NGOs, networks, coalitions, initiative groups  and government organizations working in the field of human rights lobbying, advocacy and education.

START DATE/ TIME: January 20th, 2012

Duration: 3 days

LOCATION: Tsaghkadzor, Armenia

DETAIL DESCRIPTION: The WFCE “Human Rights and Diversity” Training Program is an opportunity for young human rights activists representing different national, ethnic, religious, cultural, sexual and gender minority groups to engage in effective human rights education (e.g., training, awareness campaigns, information dissemination and advocacy) to achieve social inclusion of marginalized social groups in Armenia. The training program uses a participatory approach that encourages intercultural learning through an exchange of experiences among participants, facilitators and resource persons. Experts invited to the training program, will give participants an insight into the human rights situation in Armenia and basic approaches to social integration of national, ethnic, religious, sexual, gender and other minority groups in Armenia

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: Higher education in the field of human rights, international law, social sciences and foreign relations, diplomacy, political sciences and public administration.

REQUIREMENTS: The participants will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Being an active member/volunteer in the nominating organization for at least one year;
  • Influencing on the human rights advocacy work at local/national/regional and international levels;
  • Being ready to share the gained knowledge and experience with peers and colleagues;
  • Sharing the principles and values of human rights when working with various poly-ethnic groups and respect cultural diversities;
  • Having a basic knowledge of human rights and advocacy mechanisms

 Priority will be given to young participants (aged between 18 and 35) representing national, ethnic, religious, sexual and gender minority groups.

International Human Rights Training Program

Description: Representatives of human rights NGOs, government agencies and initiative groups working in the field of human rights, lobbying, advocacy and education. Priority will be given to candidates from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. The organizational committee will strongly preserve the gender/geographic balance when selecting candidates.Requirements: All participants must have an excellent knowledge of Russian. The participants will be selected on the following criteria:
• Being an active member/volunteer in the nominating organization for at least one year;
• Influencing on the human rights advocacy work at local/national/regional and international levels;
• Being ready to share the gained knowledge and experience with peers and colleagues;
• Sharing the principles and values of human rights when working with various poly-ethnic groups and respect cultural diversities;
• Having a basic knowledge of human rights and advocacy mechanisms
